Recipe

Sunburn Soother

I have found that putting lotion or cream on a new sunburn holds the heat in the burn and that for me, I peel worse afterwards. However, leaving it dry with nothing on it is painful and I still peel really bad. I tried using commercially prepared aloe vera gel, but all the extra crud they put in it is drying and didn't help at all. In my search for a happy medium, I developed this recipe. It is a simple mixture of liquid glycerin and aloe vera liquid. It keeps the skin moist and also has a nice cooling effect. I use this until the heat goes out of the burn. Then I use whipped shea sunburn salve. (The recipe for this will follow.)

You'll need:

- Aloe Liquid
- Liquid Glycerin
- A 2, 4, or 8 ounce clear bottle
- small or large Mister Caps (depending on bottle size)
- 6 to 8 drops of Peppermint essential oil (optional)

How To:

Fill your bottle 1/3 full with liquid glycerin.
Then fill the rest of the way with aloe vera liquid. Add peppermint eo if desired. Put your mister cap on and use as needed until the heat goes out of the burn.
