poultice for bruises?
Out of curiosity (and sort of necessity, haha), I wondered if anyone here happened to have any recipes for poultices (or anything else) to help relieve the pain of severe bruises (and the ugly discoloration, too)? I'd be very grateful if anyone had a recipe they would be willing to share.

Bruise
Two herbs that are a wonder for swelling/bruising are comfrey and Yarrow. Yarrow would be best for bruising. Just grab a hand full of fresh leave- rinse, twist them or mash then a bit and apply with some tape. Let them sit for as long as possible. I used this up in the mountains on a smashed/cut and the bleeding stopped immediately and I never got a bruise. I was really impressed as I bruise easily.
comfrey for swelling- same rinse, twist and apply with a cool cloth- Works- you can ask the son that got into a fight......LOL
Use Arnica Cream
A common homeopathic remedy for bruising (both pain and discoloration) is Arnica Montana which is commonly sold in pill form (homeopathic) or cream. It is used routinely throughout Europe as a cure for bumps and bruises. One of the most common brands is Boiron which can be found in many drug or health food stores.
Honey is a great little
Honey is a great little antibiotic. :) Crush fresh garlic is too. I just can't image what honey would do for a bruise... But hey, doesn't hurt to try! LOL
Huh, hadn't thought about
Huh, hadn't thought about honey for it. Honey DOES work wonders on open wounds though. One of our pet rats got hurt (they were rough housing a bit too rough) and the vet told me to put honey on the wound once a day, and to clean off the old honey when I put new honey on it... he healed up faster than expected and doesn't even have a scar. I'll have to look more into the idea of using it for bruises.
Someone recently told me to
Someone recently told me to put honey on that but I don't know the details. You might google honey and bruises or something.
Good luck with your bruise!
