How to Make Melt and Pour Watermelon Soap

ShareThis

Clear Melt & Pour Soap, about ½ lb
about 2Tbsp, poppy seeds or cranberry seeds.
About 1/2tsp Watermelon fragrance oil
Witch hazel
Red liquid color
Jade Green liquid colorant
Solid White liquid colorant or a small piece of opaque glycerin soap.

2 lengths of pvc pipe, about 1 foot long, one slightly smaller in diameter than the other

Take some heavy duty plastic wrap and put it around one end of each of the pvc pieces. Secure the plastic with a rubber band. The idea is to seal the ends of the pipe so the soap doesn’t leak out when you pour it in. You can also find end caps for the pvc at the Hardware store when you get the pipe.

Melt ¾ of your glycerin soap and add 7 drops of red liquid color and ¼ tsp of fragrance.

Pour the soap into the pvc pipe that is SMALLER in diameter. After 15-20 minutes, take the “skin” off that has formed on top off the soap and add your poppy or cranberry seeds. Stir them in gently. They should disperse pretty evenly through the soap. Stick it in the freezer after it has set up most of the way and when it is good and cold, take it out of the mold.

Melt the rest of your soap and then add the white color drop by drop until you achieve the right look. (You are going for a white that looks like the white in a watermelon rind…. almost opaque but not quite.

You can also achieve this by melting clear soap with a small piece of opaque soap.)

Add ¼ tsp of watermelon fragrance.

Take the red soap you made before and center it in the middle of the LARGER piece of pvc pipe. Spritz it heavily with witch hazel. Pour the white soap in around the red soap. You want to make sure your white soap is not too hot. If it is, it will melt the red soap and turn your white layer pink.

Let it get set up and put it in the freezer. When it gets cold enough, take it out of the freezer and pop it out of the mold. Wait for a couple of hours and then paint the outside with the jade green color. After that dries, slice your soap into bars and then cut the bars in half.
