Cool As A Cucumber Soap
2 cucumbers
1 pound Basic Soap Noodles® Shredded Soap
2/3 c whole milk*
1 Tbsp each of almond oil , jojoba oil, & grapeseed oils
1oz Mango Butter, melted
1 teaspoon Cucumber fragrance oil
Jade Green liquid colorant
2 basic round mold, orange juice can or section of pvc pipe
Puree the cucumbers in a blender or food processor. Pour mixture through a strainer and save the juice. Add the juice to the milk and then add the oils and melted mango butter to the milk mixture. Set aside.
Place shredded soap in a pot. Pour the milk mixture over the shredded soap and stir well but carefully. Put on lid, and put pot into a 200 degree oven.
Check shredded soap after 1 hr. If it looks really dry and there are still LOTS of visible shreds, add 1/4c more milk and stir thoroughly, but gently.
If it looks moist and you just see a few shreds, then stir gently. Put the lid back on and check again in 30 min. At this point it should be ready. There should be very few if any visible shreds, the soap should be about the consistency of runny mashed potatoes.
Optional: Add your colorant and stir it in well. Then add fragrance. Stir thoroughly, but gently, like when you are folding in egg whites.
Press firmly into your mold. If you are using the pvc pipe or orange juice can, you may want to spray it VERY lightly with vegetable spray so they will slide out easier.
Put the mold in to the freezer for 1-3 hours.
Remove from freezer and pop soaps out of the mold.
Set the soaps on a rack to dry for about 4-6 weeks. Then they will be ready to use.
To be done after removing from freezer: Use the Jade green color to paint the outside green, giving you the appearance of a sliced cucumber.
* Variation….. You can add the cucumber pulp as well, if it is very finely pureed. If you add the pulp, reduce the milk to ¼ c.
* You can also use soymilk, goat’s milk, 1%, 2%, or skim.
If you use 1% or skim, add an additional 2 tsp of one of the oils.
