Maaahhhvelous Mango Coconut Soap Recipe
This recipe incorporates unsweetened coconut milk-unbelievably creamy with a high fat content, unsweetened flaked coconut-a nice exfoliant, and freshly squeezed mango juice and mango puree- full of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants.
1 pound Basic Soap Noodles® Shredded Soap
1/3 cup unsweetened coconut milk (I found mine in canned form in the Asian food section of my grocery store. They have a low fat version too but I don’t recommend it for this. Make sure it isn’t the stuff in with the drink mixers that is used for making Pina Coladas. That has too much sugar and not enough milk.)
1 tablespoon mango butter
1 tablespoon avocado oil
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tsp whole milk
1 tsp finely shredded unsweetened coconut. (I found this next to the sweetened, flake coconut in the baking section of my grocery store.)
1 ripe mango
1-2 tsp of mango fragrance
8 drops of Soap Crafters orange liquid color
Melt mango butter with the avocado and olive oil in the microwave. While it is melting, open coconut milk and stir well. Measure out 1/3 c of the coconut milk and add whole milk to it. Stir in the melted mango butter and oils. Pour this mixture over your shredded soap which you have placed in a crock pot, oven safe dish or Fry Daddy.
(Warm up your oven (200 degrees), Fry Daddy (warm), or crock pot (low). )
Let it melt for 45 min to 1 hour.
While it is melting, take part of the skin off the mango and then squeeze the juice into a measuring cup. ( If the mango is ripe, then when you start to squeeze, the skin will easily separate from the mango while you are squeezing it.) Add about a teaspoon of the mango fruit to the juice or enough fruit so that you have 1/3 cup total. Using a stick blender or mixer mix the fruit with the juice until the fruit is pureed. To that add the liquid color and fragrance.
After 45 minutes to 1 hour, check your soap. It should look a little drier than usual because we’re not adding as much liquid as we usually would. Sir it well. If it looks fully melted at this point, continue to the next step.
If not and it is still really dry, add 1 tablespoon of coconut milk to it and stir again. Let it melt for another 15 minutes. If it isn’t super dry, but still needs to melt a bit, stir well and let melt for another 15 minutes.
After soap is fully melted, add ½ the mango juice/puree mixture and blend well. Then add the dried coconut and the other ½ of the juice mixture and stir well.
Scoop into molds.
If you are putting it into a more detailed mold, put in a small amount of soap at a time and press the soap into the details of the mold. It is kind of like spackling a hole in the wall. You want to fill the spaces so there are very few air pockets. It helps to use a rubber spatula that has been coated with oil.
Put the mold in to the freezer for 1-3 hours.
Remove from freezer and pop soaps out of the mold.
Set the soaps on a rack to dry for about 4-6 weeks. Then they will be ready to use.
Sparkling Pomegranate Soap recipe
A decadent soap made with hemp and avocado oils, mango butter and unsweetened pomegranate juice-an excellent source of antioxidants. This soap gets its base color from our raspberry red oil based color and our coral sparkles. In the soaps pictured, I have painted the details in the soap with our gold sparkles and our iridescent blue sparkles, mixed with a little water.
1 lb Basic Soap Noodles® Shredded Soap
1/3c whole milk
1/3 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice I found mine in the grocery store in the produce section with the refrigerated dressings and stuff. The brand I got is called POM. They have pomegranate juice blends too, but for this,I got just the plain juice.
1 tablespoon mango butter
1 tablespoon avocado oil
1 tablespoon olive oil
¼ of a little tiny scoop of Soap Crafters Raspberry Red oil-based colorant
4 little tiny scoops of Soap Crafters Coral Sparkles
1 additional teaspoon of avocado oil
¾ oz of Soap Crafters fragrance
Melt the mango butter with the avocado and apricot oil in the microwave. While it is melting, warm up your oven (200 degrees), Fry Daddy (warm), or crock pot (low).
Measure out 1/3 cup of the milk and add the pomegranate juice to it. Stir in the melted mango butter and oils. Pour this mixture over your shredded soap which you have placed in a crock pot, oven safe dish or Fry Daddy. The pomegranate juice will quickly turn grey and then in a minute or so turn brown. This is normal. Cover the container and melt for 45 minutes to 1 hour. While it is melting, mix the oil-based colorant and coral sparkles into 1 teaspoon of avocado oil. Stir until sparkles are fully incorporated. Add the fragrance to the mixture, stir; and set aside.
After 45 minutes to 1 hour, check your soap. Sir it well. If it looks fully melted at this point, continue to the next step.
If not, and it is still dry, add 1 tablespoon of milk and stir again. Let it melt for another 15 minutes. If it isn’t super dry, but still needs to melt a bit, stir well and let melt for another 15 minutes.
After soap is fully melted, add ½ the fragrance/color mixture and blend well. After it is fully blended, add the other half of the color and fragrance and stir well.
After it is unmolded, you can paint the soap.
Put the mold in to the freezer for 1-3 hours.
Remove from freezer and pop soaps out of the mold.
Set the soaps on a rack to dry for about 4-6 weeks. Then they will be ready to use.
Summer Pear Soap Recipe
This soap looks gorgeous and smells divine. Our delicate pear scent is teamed with pureed pears, pear juice and nourishing oils for a soap that is a treat to use. A must-have for those who like fruity smells that are not overly sweet.
The Key Oval soap mold
1 pound Basic Soap Noodles® Shredded Soap
1/3 cup whole milk
5 drops of Soap Crafters grass green liquid color
3 drops Soap Crafters yellow liquid colorant
enough Soap Crafters jade and cola liquid color to paint with
¾ oz Soap Crafters fragrance
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon avocado oil
1 tablespoon soy bean oil
1/3c unsweetened pear juice
1 ½ tsp pear puree
You can get this one of three ways;
1)Get a ripe pear, squeeze it and puree some of the fruit
2)Buy a can of Libby’s canned pears that are packed in 100% pure juice. Use the juice and mash up some of the fruit.
Or
3)Get some baby food. They should have pear juice and pears that are unsweetened.
Warm up your oven (200 degrees), Fry Daddy (warm), or crock pot (low).
Measure out 1/3 c of the milk and add the oils to it.
Pour this mixture over your shredded soap which you have placed in a crock pot, oven safe dish or Fry Daddy.
Cover and let it melt for 45 min to 1 hour.
While it is melting, add the GRASS GREEN color and lemon yellow color to the pear juice. Mix until thoroughly blended.
After 45 minutes to 1 hour, check your soap. It should look a little drier than usual because we’re not adding as much liquid as we usually would. Sir it well. If it looks fully melted at this point, continue to the next step.
If not and it is still really dry, add 1 tablespoon of milk and stir again. Let it melt for another 15 minutes. If it isn’t super dry, but still needs to melt a bit, stir well and let melt for another 15 minutes.
After soap is fully melted, add ½ the fragrance, puree, and juice/color mixture and blend well. After it is well mixed, add the rest.
Scoop into molds.
Put in a small amount of soap at a time and press the soap into the details of the mold. It is kind of like spackling a hole in the wall. You want to fill the spaces so there are very few air pockets. It helps to use a rubber spatula that has been coated with oil.
Put the mold in to the freezer for 1-3 hours.
Remove from freezer and pop soaps out of the mold.
After it comes out of the mold, use the jade green color to paint the leaves and use the cola to paint the stem. If you want, you can also use the cola to add the little brown spots that you find on real pears.
Set the soaps on a rack to dry for about 4-6 weeks. Then they will be ready to use.
Pina Colada Soap Recipe
“If you like Pina Coladas and getting’ caught in the rain….”. C’mon! You know you were thinking it =)
When I decided on this topic, this is the first soap recipe I came up with. I wanted a soap that captured the essence of summer when I was a kid.
I colored this soap with gold and copper sparkles—for the golden sun & bronzed skin. (You could leave it uncolored or color it yellow or gold too)
I also wanted the scent of the tanning lotion my older sisters used when “laying out” in the back yard. (Now it’s the scent of sunblock. Ahhhh….we live and learn!) I also incorporated cocoa butter (all the rage in the 70’s), mango butter, coconut milk, and avocado oil.
1 pound Basic Soap Noodles Shredded Soap
1/3 cup unsweetened coconut milk (I found mine in canned form in the Asian food section of my grocery store. They have a low fat version too but I don’t recommend it for this. Make sure it isn’t the stuff in with the drink mixers that is used for making Pina Coladas. That has too much sugar and not enough milk.)
1 tsp whole milk
1 tablespoon mango butter
1 tablespoon avocado oil
1 tablespoon cocoa butter
1 tsp whole milk
1/2 ounce of coconut fragrance
3 little tiny scoops each of Soap Crafters gold & bronze sparkles
1 additional teaspoon of avocado oil If desired…
Palm Island soap making mold
Soap Crafters jade green liquid color to paint with
Melt mango butter and the cocoa butter with 1 Tbsp of avocado oil in the microwave. While it is melting, open coconut milk and stir well. Measure out 1/3 cup of the coconut milk and add whole milk to it. Stir in the melted butters and oil. Pour this mixture over your shredded soap which you have placed in a crock pot, oven safe dish or Fry Daddy. (Warm up your oven (200 degrees), Fry Daddy (warm), or crock pot (low). )
Let it melt for 45 min to 1 hour.
While it is melting, mix the sparkles in with 1 tsp of avocado oil and the fragrance. Set aside.
Put in the freezer for 1-3 hours. Then remove the soaps from the mold.
After it is un-molded, you can paint the soap.
Set the soaps on a rack to dry for about 4-6 weeks. Then they will be ready to use.
