How to Make Melt and Pour Soap Chocolate Egg

These are made with cocoa powder and our luscious chocolate fragrance to give them their realistic appearance. With that in mind, they wouldn’t be good for young children because they might try to eat them. Also the cocoa will make the lather brown.

You will need:
½ lb White Melt & Pour soap base
4 tsp of Cocoa powder
2 tsp Coconut oil
1 Tablespoon Chocolate Fragrance
Plastic Easter eggs
A very tiny funnel or pipettes

First, you need to drill a hole in the top of the egg that is big enough to get a funnel or a pipette into. Then find a little cup that you can put the egg into while you are filling it that will keep it upright and still.

Next, melt your soap.

After the soap has melted, melt your coconut oil in the microwave in a small, microwave safe container (preferably glass the clean up is easier). While the coconut oil is melting add fragrance to your soap.

After coconut oil has melted, stir in the 2 tsp of cocoa powder. Mix until smooth. Add cocoa mixture to the soap mixture and stir well.

Use either a funnel or a pipette to fill the plastic eggs with the soap. Put in the freezer for about an hour and then un-mold. There may be a ridge or parting line around the middle from where the egg comes together. Just take a pairing knife and smooth that out. You can go to a restaurant supply and find decorative foils to wrap these in or just use really, really cheap aluminum foil.

Note: I have tried lots of other oils and butters (almond, vegetable, mango butter, cocoa butter) to suspend the cocoa in and nothing but the coconut oil did the trick. The oils separated and the butters left a white chalky film on the outside of the soap.
