Melt and Pour Conch Shell Soap
You will need:
1 Pound of White Melt & Pour soap base
Pearl White Sparkles
Aquamarine Sparkles
Blue Sparkles
Coral Sparkles
Copper Sparkles
1 teaspoon Cucumber Fragrance
1 teaspoon Frangipani Fragrance
the Milkyway conch mold
a fairly large artist’s brush (this can just be a cheap, dollar store brush)
You can use several techniques to achieve the look you want. For one cavity I brushed a very small amount of copper mica on the ridges and swirl of the mold. On another one I used the brush to dust the entire cavity with pearl white mica. On another, I brushed the whole cavity with the pearl white sparkles and then layered coral and blue mica on the ridges and swirls. On the fourth one I brushed the entire cavity with peal white mica and then dipped the brush into the aquamarine and randomly tapped the brush over the cavity.
Make sure you wear something to protect your mouth and nose while you are doing this, as using the brush will cause a bit of the Sparkles Colorant to become airborne.
After you have prepared your mold with the mica, melt your soap slowly in the microwave. After it has melted, mix in the fragrance. Let the soap cool down for about 3-5 minutes.
When pouring the soap in you need to pour slowly. I actually picked a side of each cavity and poured it slowly in from the side instead of directly into the middle of the cavity. The reason being is that if you pour to fast and too directly, the soap will clear the Sparkles from that spot and you’ll have a “bare” spot on your soap.
After the soap has set, put it in the freezer for about an hour and then unmold.
