Soap Crafters soap making Water Based powder colorants are an easy to use FDA approve color for your skin care products. These powdered colorants are highly concentrated dyes for cosmetic use. Each 1/4 ounce jar will color 100 to 150 pounds of soap or lotion. If you use them in bath fizzies or bath salts, the product will color the water in the tub when you use it. For use in other products like lotions, shampoos and soaps, it is best for you to make a liquid colorant out of them first so you do not over color your products. The powder itself is not colorfast, so you can get bleeding between colored layers of soap.
