Powder Colorants - Water Based

Use this version of colorant for your glycerin melt and pour soaps, lotions, bath fizzies, and other products you make that have a lot of water in them. Always be sure to use skin safe colorants in your products which will go on the skin. Candle dyes and crayons are not skin safe.
These powdered colorants are highly concentrated dyes for cosmetic use. Each 1/4 ounce jar will color 100 to 150 pounds of soap or lotion. If you use them in bath fizzies or bath salts, the product will color the water in the tub when you use it. For use in other products like lotions, shampoos and soaps, it is best for you to make a liquid colorant out of them first so you do not over color your products. The powder itself is not colorfast, so you can get bleeding between colored layers of soap.
These colorants will give a good, even color to the products you make at home. But you can also use them as a stain for your soaps! You can use these colorants to paint right on top of any type of soap bar to bring out the brilliance of your design. The colorant sinks down a bit in to the soap itself, it does not just stay on the surface like other soap paints. You should be able to see the color after a few uses of the soap bar. To use as a soap paint, first make a liquid colorant out of the powder, pour a few drops into a small cup and use a fine paint brush. Dip the brush into the colorant and paint it on the soap. That is all there is to it. There are times when painting the top of the soap is the only way to get your soap colors just right.
